Donkey Vaccination Proect

This current project is specifically to vaccinate donkeys in the communities of Bois Noir and Denye Mak, La Gonave, Haiti against tetanus (lockjaw). These animals are the main motive force for these communities and are used primarily to haul water from the deep water wells to the towns. This disease is fatal and donkeys and horses are especially susceptible. There is no effective treatment but a very effective vaccine. Unfortunately the vaccine is not available to the veterinary agents there. We plan to take vaccine and supplies to host a two day vaccination clinic in December 2016. A second dose of vaccine is required in two weeks and we will leave vaccine with the veterinary agents to administer. Following this, once yearly boosters are needed.
